Grit Pictures are a team of professional commercial filmmakers based in Brighouse, West Yorkshire. They have years of industry experience in producing a wide range of video styles from animation to commercial promotional videos for business and events.
Grit wanted a multimedia web design, their website needed to be stylish and minimal and to stand out from their competitors. Grit founder Deryn expressed his wish for the look of the website to resemble the silver screen aesthetic of classic black and white movies, with black bars along the top and bottom. In line with this, he wanted to colour palette to be only black and white. Grit wanted their site to show their vast portfolio of videos in a unique and memorable way, infused with a clean and minimalist style.
We created a slideshow style website with no downward scrolling and no navigation menu. The minimalism runs through the design and the site navigation follows the same principle.
The site comprises three main pages to visit and one extensive portfolio gallery. The design emphasises the monochrome colour palette that Grit wanted and is further complimented by the stripped-down navigation and aspect ratio ‘classic movie’ black bars style. You can access their portfolio in video lightboxes that play in full colour. Each page has a background video of Grit’s latest work so visitors can check out their most recent project.
