WaleSong is a Mirfield-based musical duo made up of keyboardist Adrian and vocalist Lisa, a married couple who traded early retirement for a shared passion for music. Performing across West Yorkshire, they specialise in creating warm, nostalgic musical experiences for care homes, hospices, and intimate community events, as well as taking the stage at small festivals.
With a repertoire that spans from the 1940s to the early 2000s, WaleSong’s performances often strike a deep chord with audiences, inspiring toe-tapping, sing-alongs, and spontaneous dancing. Blending live music with light-hearted storytelling, gentle humour, and engaging conversation, Adrian and Lisa transform each performance into an uplifting shared experience, a joyful trip down memory lane. They believe in music’s ability to comfort, connect, and bring happiness, especially in settings where emotional care matters most. WaleSong also collaborates with fellow musicians to perform at larger events and festivals, tailoring their performances to suit a wide range of audiences and musical tastes.

WaleSong quickly realised they needed a proper brand identity. Regularly being asked for business cards, posters, and flyers at their performances, they knew it was time to create a visual identity that matched their unique personality and energy. Their initial request was for a logo design and a suite of branded promotional materials, including posters and stationery. As they began uploading performances to YouTube, it became clear that their digital presence also needed to reflect the same professional and playful spirit.
Lisa and Adrian wanted a brand that felt as lively, joyful, and warm as the music they perform. Their shows bring energy and emotion into care homes and community spaces, and their branding needed to reflect that same sense of connection and fun. They were clear about one thing – avoid anything dull or dated.
Deeply inspired by the psychedelic sound and visuals of the 1960s and ’70s, especially iconic bands like Yes, Adrian envisioned a bold, wacky, and colourful style reminiscent of the music he grew up with. And that era resonates just as strongly with their audiences. While many people assume that care home residents want Vera Lynn, Lisa was quick to point out that what they’re really craving is The Human League, T. Rex, and the anthems of the ’70s and ’80s. Their audience didn’t grow up during the war, they came of age during glam rock, disco, and synth-pop.
WaleSong’s brief was clear. Create a brand that feels fun, a little funky, and full of life, just like the music they love, and the people they play it for.
To capture WaleSong’s playful personality and musical roots, we designed a bold, distinctive wordmark that combines expressive, stylised typography with a warm, retro-inspired colour palette. The result is a brand identity that feels vibrant, joyful, and unmistakably 60s, a nod to Adrian’s love of psychedelic rock and the duo’s musical influences.
The name “WaleSong” is a blend of their surname, Wales, and their shared passion: song. We brought the two elements together into a single, flowing wordmark, using a large, stylised “S” at the centre to create a sense of rhythm and movement. Surrounding the wordmark, we introduced dynamic squiggles, dashes, and organic shapes that evoke sound waves and musical energy, as if the logo itself is vibrating with music. These elements were later expanded into a full psychedelic pattern, adding depth and versatility to the brand toolkit.
With the core logo in place, we developed a mini brand identity that could grow with them. Working within a modest budget, we created a starter pack of promotional materials that Lisa and Adrian could easily reuse and edit going forward. This included a large-scale poster, business cards, flyers, and a branded YouTube banner for their YouTube Channel, giving WaleSong everything they needed to present consistently and confidently, both in person and online.
